Douglass Gillespie - President & Founder
High school English teacher by day, rock n roller by night, Doug started The 100th Monkey January 2015 in order to raise money for, increase the public’s awareness of, and assist nonprofits and other deserving entities in realizing their potential and achieving their missions. Through music and the spirit of community it often creates, he hopes to help others. He is active in steering and overseeing all aspects of the Foundation, putting together a talented team of writers, craftspeople, artists, technicians, musicians, and business people.
Doug has several years of experience producing and promoting musical events in the Northern New Jersey area, including BIRDSONG: The 2015 Kelly Curtis Memorial Benefit with Todd Sheaffer & Friends, and RAMBLE in the RIDGE Spring 2015. His current band Dead Dog’s Eye is often host to these events, raising money for organizations like the Bloomfield Middle School Music Parents Association, the Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, New Jersey, and more.
For you J.K. Rowling fans, Doug has co-directed a Harry Potter Summer Camp in scenic Allamuchy, New Jersey, for the past 4 years. He’s a master Quidditch ref! With that, and being a teacher with almost 20 years of experience, he knows how to pull out people’s strengths, maximize their potential, and keep them in line.
When he’s not working with kids or playing his guitar, you will find him with his family. Together they eat, enjoy soccer and marching band, and the beach as much as possible. It’s a good life.
